About Me:
Name: Ms. Karlene
Parent Info: I have 2 wonderful adult children, Samuel who works in construction and Cidnee who is finishing up her senior year in High School.
Hobbies: Knitting, pottery, drawing, gardening, backpacking and fishing.
Teaching Perspective: I believe in a trauma-informed approach in my teaching methodology. Building relationships and rapport with students is key to getting students excited about academics and learning. Finding what works for each individual student and capitalizing on those strategies is paramount for academic success. Shaping minds is a high calling which humbles and inspires me every day.
College Experience: BA in Outdoor Recreation from Eastern Washington University. I worked at a boy's ranch in Spokane right out of college which was a residential treatment center. I went on to work for Washington State Parks for several years after that; however, my most important and fulfilling job has been raising two amazing children.
Favorite Food: Italian; is there anything else.....
Favorite Drink: Coffee of any kind.
Favorite Sports Team: The La Center Wildcats of course!
Favorite Quote: I have learned that people will forget what you did, they will forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel. - Maya Angelou
Fun Facts: I competed in barrel racing in college, I was a deckhand in Alaska on a commercial fishing vessel when I was in High School, I taught a half a year of Kindergarten in 2023.
